The best man made a great toast, saying how Colin had never been afraid of anything, had pursued sports such as vaulting (which involves doing backflips off of galloping horses), but when he met Elizabeth, he was awed by her beauty and intelligence. They had a large, lively crowd of attendants and a lovely display of floral arrangements in antique silver vases, surrounded by beautiful old books. A spectacular chandelier graced the tent, illuminating the festivities until all hours.
Audrey and Phil met at Stanford, so it was a particularly meaningful place for them to marry. (One of his favorite professors gave a tour of the campus after the ceremony.) I loved the way the wedding party relaxed and lounged in the shade, against the striking stone facade. They had their reception nearby at the Westin Palo Alto. The room looked lovely with the bright, sunny accents of yellow the bride chose. One of the fathers made a beautiful toast in Chinese, wishing them a home that was filled with the scent of knowledge from many old books. The bride and groom were so appreciative of each other, as well as showing such gratitude for the company of their friends and family.
I also had the pleasure of working with Ron Grandia (DJ) and Kristina Tobin of the Westin, whose warm gracious presence at the hotel is wonderful.
Weddings at private homes tend to be really personal. John's dog was a charming ring bearer. Kate's father made a wonderful toast about his daughter having "moxie".
